Petar Ruscuklic operates the furniture restoration company, Calmar Restorations providing services mainly to private customers. Having built up a following of loyal clients, over some seventeen years, he is a big believer in the value of quality over quantity. Petar’s genuine love of antiques and passion for sympathetic restoration has recently been qualified by the antiques trade in Australia with endorsement by the Australian Antique and Art Dealers Association with “Approved Service Provider” status.

Firstly, he admits that he has no formal training in either chemistry, physics or art but over the years, has developed an innate sense of what to has done to a piece of antique furniture to restore it to it’s former glory.

Petar’s work involves meeting with customers and working on individual pieces, undertaking French polishing, carving and upholstery repair. The work can be very varied, according to the particular piece and the needs of the customer. He firmly believes that even when you're established in this field, you never stop learning!

He believes, that as the purveyors of these items, the trades that work with antiques have a duty of care; and one of the important aspects of being an AAADA Approved Service Provider is that these people are chosen and recommended by the members of the Australian Antique and Art Dealer’s Association for their abilities to provide services which are in keeping with the specialised skills required for the maintenance, repair and safe keeping of treasured objects
